New M-PESA Charges effective February 2013

Money transfer service- M-PESA: Effective February 9th 2013 , Safaricom revised M-PESA transactions charges as follows. This is after the government imposed a 10% tax on all money transfer services.

How to activate your M-shwari account; How to transfer money from MPesa to Mshwari

M-Shwari allows you to own and operate a savings account on your phone. The savings account is available to all M-PESA users who activate MShwari accountt on their phone.
HOW TO ACTIVATE M-Shwari:

On M-PESA menu select ‘My Account’
Select ‘Update Menu’
Wait for the menu to update
Go back to M-PESA menu
Select M-Shwari Read and accept the terms and conditions.

How to withdraw money from M-PESA at PesaPoint ATM

All M-Pesa registered customers can now withdraw amounts ranging from KES 200 – 20,000 from any PesaPoint ATM countrywide. Here is how to do it.

Walk to any Pesapoint ATM then
On your phone go to M-PESA and select ‘ATM withdrawal’  (if you can not see ‘ATM Withdrawal’ from your M-PESA menu, you will need to update your menu. Scroll down the M-PESA menu and select ‘My Account’ then select ‘Update Menu’.)
Enter the agent code as 555 555 press Ok
Enter your M-PESA PIN and press ok.

How to pay your water bill using M-PESA; Nairobi City Water and Sewerage Company

If you are water supplier is Nairobi City Water and Sewerage Company, then you can cut to the chase. You can now pay your water bill via M-PESA as follows:

You need to be an M-PESA registered customer.
Select Pay Bill from your M-PESA menu
Enter ‘business number’ 444 400
Enter the full water bill ‘account number’
Enter the amount you wish to pay (between Ksh100 – 35,000)
Enter your M-PESA PIN
Confirm details are correct and press OK

To receive Safaricom dividends in your M-PESA account, please register as follows:

You will receive an SMS confirming the registration

 
Registration opens on Thursday 11th August 2011 and closes on Friday 23rd September 2011.
