CoopNet; How Cooperative Bank – Kenya Internet Banking works.
You can now access your cooperative bank account and transfer money from any device with internet connection!
Features of the CoopNet, Cooperative Bank Internet Banking:
1. Access to real-time online account balances
2. Instant access to account transactions as and when they are carried out
3. Ability to transfer money from one’s own account to another account
4. Ability to transfer money from one’s account to any other account within Co-operative Bank
5. The option to transfer funds in a single entity or collectively send a number of payments as a single file
6. Pay utility bills from the comfort of their premises e.g Electricity and Water bills or even Airtime bills for post-paid customers of Safaricom.
7. Communicate securely with the Bank using the built in SECURE MAIL that each and every signed up customer will have free access to. With Secure Mail you will have answers to all your enquiries regarding the service, as well as queries relating to all the other Bank products
CHARGES: A monthly access fee of Kes. 200.00 for individual account holders and Kes. 1500.00 for Businesses and institutions applies. Each fund transfer transaction is charged at Kes. 30.00
How CoopNet works
Ensure you are registered for CoopNet be visiting your nearest Cooperative bank branch. You will get your User ID and password at that same branch within 5 working days.
STEP 1: Click the Login Page https://co-opnet.co.ke/cobk/engine
When you click the link to CoopNet you will be taken to a page requesting for your User ID and PIN. These are the secret codes provided to you by the Bank which should be kept private and should never be shared with anyone else.
- Always make sure that the login page displays the LOCK on the web browser to indicate that the site is secure, as well as the Verisign secured logo which confirms that any transactions within the site will be protected from the general public through encryption.
- This will also be your confirmation that this site is not fake and is indeed that of the Co-operative Bank of Kenya.
STEP 2: Key-in your User ID and PIN
Key-in your User ID and PIN and click on the continue button as shown. You may also choose to press the “ENTER” key instead of using the mouse.
o If the UserID and PIN provided are correct you will be directed to another page which will request for a specific code from your Code Card.
o Only upon typing in this code will you be allowed into the “Home” page of CoopNet which displays the Welcome message.
o At a glance you will be able to see all your accounts on CoopNet together with their balances on this page.
On your left the page will display a menu with the following links:
- Home
- Accounts
- Payments
- Loans
- Bulk Payment
- Authentication
The Accounts page
The Accounts page gives a listing of all the accounts that you had requested access to using CoopNet. The information is presented in the form of Account Type, the Account Number, Book Balance and Available Balance. The currency of the funds is shown at the extreme end.
You may drill down through any account by double clicking on the account number. This will give a listing of the transactions in the account, starting with the latest transactions. In order to view earlier transactions other than those displayed on the page, click on the link marked ‘Next’.
The Payments page
Under the payments page there is a link that allows customers to settle their utility bills e.g their power bills due to Kenya Power & Lighting Co Ltd. Select the Utility Company as KPLC. Then select the account from which payment will be effected. Thereafter indicate the amount to be paid followed by the KPLC account number into which payment will be remitted. Click on the ‘Submit’ button. This will take you to the Unconfirmed payments page. On this page details of the transaction will be displayed and you will be asked to enter a specific code from your Code Card. The payment will be completed upon entering the code requested for and clicking on the Confirm button.
In the event that you want to make changes before confirmation you may click on the ‘Edit’ button. It is also possible to delete the whole transaction by clicking on the ‘Cancel’ button.
The Transfers page
Under Transfers you will be able to: -
o Move funds from your account to any other account held by you within Co-op Bank
o Make payments to third parties holding accounts with Co-op Bank.
o Make payments to third parties holding accounts with other commercial banks in Kenya
For example to make a payment to an account number 123456 in XYZ bank you will start by indicating the beneficiary’s name or selecting it from the drop-down list if they have already been saved previously. Under the account number, input 99009123456 where 99009 is the Bank Code for the domicile of the account. Select the account number from where the funds will be debited and the amount to be sent. Invoice reference refers to your own reference which should be understood by both yourself and the recipient of the funds. Thereafter click on ‘Submit’ button. The transfer will then be listed under the Unconfirmed Payments listing, awaiting for authorization.
The Payments List page
This page gives a listing of all the payments transacted using CoopNet over a specified period including their status i.e in progress, executed or rejected.
Beneficiary Register
Under this page you can save a listing of those Beneficiaries to whom you frequently make payments. This saves you the effort having to input that information repeatedly.
The Loans page
This page will simply give a listing of all your loan accounts with their current balances
The Bulk Payment page
Under this heading you will be able to upload several payments contained in a single file for processing. After the upload the payments will be displayed in the Unconfirmed Payments page to await authorization by the signatories
The Authentication page
This page provides the customer with the option to change their PIN. Please note that the PIN will automatically be generated by CoopNet
The Mail Page
Through this mail each user of CoopNet will be able to communicate with the Bank within a secure environment as well as request for non-financial services from the Bank.
The Help button
In case you need more information on any of the menu items within CoopNet you can get the same by clicking on the ‘Help’ button from any of the pages. This will bring up a page with the necessary information.
How secure is CoopNet?
Co-op Bank recognizes the terrific role that the Internet is playing in business. We have not lost sight however of the security risks inherent in online transactions. For this reason the Bank has put in place comprehensive safeguards to ensure that CoopNet users are not exposed to risks or loss. The security measures involve: -
1. Two factor authentication
To log on to the website, you need to have the login ID and PIN number. In addition, you need to provide a response code from the TAN card issued to you.
2. Software & Application Security
The systems are protected by industry standard security technology and practices to safeguard user accounts from any unauthorized access. These are but not limited to: Creating secure online sessions, using encryption, using session timeouts and automatic lock outs after failed login attempts.
