New Liquor License Fees in Kenya

With the enactment of the Alcoholic Drinks Control Act dealers in traditional brews and liquors now have a few days to obtain licenses for their business.

Here is a list of the licenses and their respective costs:

TYPE OF LICENSE ANNUAL FEES (KES)
General retailing licence in the city or municipality 50,000
General retailing licence in urban areas 30,000
General retailing licence in rural areas 15,000
Wholesale alcoholic drink licence per premise 50,000
Hotel alcoholic drink licence within the city or municipality 50,000
Hotel alcoholic drink licence in urban areas 30,000
Hotel alcoholic drink licence in rural areas 20,000
Restaurant alcoholic licence in the city or municipality 30,000
Restaurant alcoholic licence in urban areas 20,000
Restaurant alcoholic licence in rural areas 10,000
Members club alcoholic drink licence within city or municipality 100,000
Proprietary club, night club and discotheque within the city or municipality 100,000
Supermarkets or franchises within the city or municipality 80,000
NOTE: Remember there are a total of 45 licensing options, each with its unique fees and conditions, we only highlighted the major ones.

    I want to open a wine&spirit shop.I have not gone through any license process and it’s in urban place.How much will it cost me for the whole license and permit process?.Kindly assist.

    if i apply for a license ie wines and spirit in urban place how long will it take for me to get it.let me assume i have it will i be allowed to sell take away at daytime, to be frank enough the amount is alot n may be it rental house then you have employed someone to do the sales n you need profit surely it won’t be possible for you to make all those expenses.
